Had we but world enough and time, this coyness, lady, were no crime...
Thus said Andrew Marvell, in his poem 'To his Coy Mistress'. Andrew would have been delighted with PRES 1.10, which we announce today, because it is all about world enough, and time. PRES has always had concepts about time and space built into the way is structures data, but now this is greatly strengthened. PRES 1.10 integrates spatial mapping using Google Maps, and temporal mapping using Simile Timeline, to reflect your data both in time and in space.
There's a lot more besides. Also in this release is much new media integration. Video can be uploaded, and hosted and served by the PRES server. But because video eats a lot of bandwidth, you may not want to host it locally. No problem; PRES 1.10 also integrates Google video.
In keeping with the world enough and time theme, PRES' old strengths in syndication are built on further, with RSS feeds now including both GeoPoint and GeoRSS information. Additionally, it is now possible to feed PRES' events data in iCalendar format.
Templating is also further improved, with the standard templates now highly modularised. And, of course, it's still possible to upload your own templates, and to have different templates for different sections of the site.
Altogether, PRES 1.10 reasserts PRES' status as one of the most feature rich and, at the same time, simple to administer Open Source content management systems.
I eat my own dogfood. Of course! And, of course, this page is served with PRES 1.10. It uses the 'default' template set; a small edit has been made to the 'navigation-v-include' template to conform to the overall look and feel of WEFT's website, and the stylesheet has also been edited for the same reason. Otherwise, this is PRES 1.10 straight out of the box.
